Dr. Jessica Kichler, Ph.D., C.Psych, is a Clinical and Health Psychologist and Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of Windsor, who specializes in pediatric health research focusing on the development of health behavior change and self-management skills. She completed her PhD at Kent State University in Ohio, her pre-doctoral internship/residency at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, and her Postdoctoral Fellowship at the University of Michigan Health System in Ann Arbor. She previously worked as a diabetes psychologist and Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES) at two academic medical centers (Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin and Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center) in the United States for almost 15 years before moving to the University of Windsor in the summer of 2020, where she now supervises and trains future psychologists. Currently, she conducts clinical interventions and explores the psychosocial adjustment and coping with chronic medical conditions, especially with youth with type 1 diabetes and their families. In addition, she is interested in how to most effectively support adolescents and young adults with type 1 diabetes transition into adult care. She is also involved in diabetes education practices and appreciates working collaboratively in interdisciplinary settings.
