Dr. Carol Huang completed her medical training at University of Toronto, followed by a PhD at the Hospital for Sick Children Research Institute (U of T). She is a pediatric endocrinologist at Alberta Children’s Hospital and Associate Professor in the Departments of Pediatrics, and Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of Calgary’s Cumming School of Medicine.
Dr. Huang’s research interest focuses on molecular mechanisms that regulate pancreatic beta cell function in adaptation to pregnancy and metabolic stress. Her clinical research focuses on how microbiome and metabolic stress contribute to progression of type 1 diabetes in children.
