Dr. Paty is a Clinical Professor in the Division of Medicine at the University of British Columbia and practices Endocrinology at Vancouver General Hospital. His clinical and research interests include Diabetes and Islet Transplantation and he is currently involved in stem cell transplant trials for type 1 diabetes. He attends the VGH islet, solid organ, and bone marrow transplant clinics. He is the President Elect of the Canadian Society of Endocrinology & Metabolism (CSEM). He was the Program Director for the UBC Division of Endocrinology from 2007-2015 and the Undergraduate Education Director at Vancouver General Hospital from 2016-2025. He was awarded the Dr. Harvey Guyda Educator of the year award from the CSEM in 2022. He has been a member of the Diabetes Canada Clinical Practice Guidelines expert committee and chapter author for the 2008, 2013, 2018 and 2022 guidelines and was a Section Editor the 2018 Guidelines.
