Dr Aliya Allahwala grew up in Toronto, Canada and received her medical degree from the Aga Khan University in Karachi, Pakistan. She then went on to complete her Pediatrics residency training at Riley Hospital for Children, in Indianapolis, USA before returning to Toronto for Pediatric Endocrinology Fellowship at The Hospital for Sick Children. She has been involved in research surrounding ketosis and the risk of euglycemic DKA in youth with type 1 diabetes on SGLT2 inhibitor therapy and has received funding from the Canadian Pediatric Endocrine Group to explore the acceptability of these medications across various stakeholder groups. In her free time, she enjoys spending quality time with family and friends, reading novels, and traveling.
