With 30 years of experience as an ophthalmologist specialising in oculoplastic surgery, Dr. Hardy graduated from the University of Montreal, where she completed her medical studies and residency. She then pursued two years of fellowship in oculoplastic and orbital surgery at McGill University and the Fondation Adolphe de Rothschild in Paris, France.
Upon her return to the University of Montreal, Dr Hardy actively participates in the development and promotion of the oculoplastic division. Under her leadership, the University of Montreal has trained over 20 international fellows in oculoplastic surgery and participated in many national and international clinical research projects. As Chief of Ophthalmology at Maisonneuve-Rosemont Hospital (Montreal) from 2012 to 2019, she led her Department to the designation of University Eye Center of the University of Montreal at Maisonneuve-Rosemont Hospital by the Quebec Ministry of Health.
As Chair of the Ophthalmology Department at the University of Montreal (2016-2021), Dr. Hardy strongly supports the development of research and researchers. Her contributions through a judicious administration of many philanthropic funds facilitate the creation of strategic departmental projects. Among others, eye disease tissue banks, the development of a program in AI, the recruitment of key professors, and a novel collaborative research with NASA through the Canadian Space Agency. She also establishes a postdoctoral fellowship grant program and orchestrates the establishment of a new research Chair in the aging of the eye.
Dr. Hardy is involved in various clinical research projects and is particularly interested in TED. Since 2019, she has participated in over 10 clinical trials on TED, established a TED research team, and is working on the establishment of a TED Board that includes a multidisciplinary team at her hospital to discuss complex patients with TED. Appreciated by students, residents, and fellows for her passionate and dynamic teaching, Dr. Hardy has accumulated more than 30 publications and numerous presentations at local, national, and international scientific events. She received the Leadership Award from the Rector of the University of Montreal in 2024.
