The goal of our lab is to examine the effects, and interactions between, exercise, nutrition and commonly prescribed drugs on liver, adipose tissue and skeletal muscle metabolism, the underlying mechanisms therein, and how these changes impact whole body, glucose and lipid metabolism. To address these questions, we use preclinical mouse models and measure endpoints from the level of gene expression to systemic energy expenditure and whole-body carbohydrate and fat oxidation. The work in the lab is supported by grants from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research and the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada.
