Kendra is Anishinaabek, registered with M'Chigeeng First Nation.
Kendra's current role is Diabetes Wellness Nurse at the Noojmowin Teg Health Centre with more than 10 years of professional experience delivering care within Indigenous communities on Manitoulin Island where she was born and raised.
Additionally, she is completing her MScN degree to become a Primary Health Care Nurse Practitioner.
Kendra is also a member of the Indigenous Primary Health Care Council Advisory Group, a co-chair for the Indigenous Science stream of the Diabetes Canada and Canadian Society of Endocrinology and Metabolism conference and co-chair for the Ontario Health Equitable and Culturally Safe Care for Indigenous People Quality Standard Advisory Committee.
Kendra is committed to advocating for change led by Indigenous people, focusing on the integration of traditional medicine within Western health care through efforts to revitalize Indigenous languages and by understanding the interconnections between all aspects of health and wellness.
